Review procedure
The review procedure followed in the Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław journal complies with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education published in the document Good Practices in Review Procedures in Science, Warsaw 2011.
When submitting their papers for publication in the Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław journal, the authors agree for their submissions to undergo the review procedure followed in Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław.
The Editorial Staff assigns an internal editorial number to every submission for the purpose of the review procedure. All elements that could help identify the author of the manuscript submitted for publication are removed.
The Editorial Staff carries out an preliminary assessment of the submissions with regard to their compliance with the profile of the journal and with the basic requirements concerning scholarship, substantive quality and formal criteria. Submissions which do not meet the basic publication criteria will be rejected. In the review process the Editorial Staff is supported by members of the Editorial Board and Scientific Board of the Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław journal.
Submissions accepted by the Editorial Board are then sent to two independent external reviewers who are not employed by the institution which publishes the journal. The reviewers are selected by the editors in line with their academic specialty and with the support of the members of the Editorial Board and Scientific Board of the journal. Each submission is reviewed by two reviewers who are recognised authorities in a given field and discipline. The reviewers are not members of the Scientific Board of the journal.
In designating the reviewers, the Editorial Team takes into account the following aspects associated with a possible conflict of interest:
- lack of direct personal relationship (family ties, legal ties, conflict);
- lack of professional subordination;
- lack of direct scholarly collaboration on the material submitted for review.
The review procedure is confidential and double blind. A list of all reviewers is published in every volume of the journal. The names of the reviewers of specific papers are not disclosed.
Papers in German are reviewed by at least one reviewer affiliated with a foreign institution in a country other than the country of the author, primarily by a native speaker of German. The reviewer may not be the author of a paper published in the issue for which he or she prepares a review.
Every review is in written form and ends with an unequivocal recommendation that a submission be accepted for publication, be accepted for publication after relevant corrections have been introduced or be rejected.
Reviews are prepared in the review form [link] used in the Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław journal.
After the Editorial Board has received the review, the author of the submission is informed about its result and necessary corrections, if applicable.
In disputable cases (divergent conclusions in two reviews) the Editorial Board designates additional reviewers and consults the submissions and the reviews with members of the Editorial Board and Scientific Board.
If the authors disagree with the conclusions and corrections indicated by the reviewers, they have a right to present their position to the Editorial Board, pointing to the corrections of the reviewer that have not been taken into account. In such situations the decision whether to proceed with the submission is taken by the Editorial Team after consultations with the Editorial Board and Scientific Board of the journal.
After corrections and additions indicated in the reviews have been introduced, the submissions are proofread (German and English with regard to the abstracts, titles and keywords). The authors are obliged to introduce relevant corrections after proofreading.
The final decision concerning publication after reviews and introduction by the author of relevant corrections indicated in the reviews and proofreading is taken by the Editorial Board.
The Editorial Board documents all manifestations of scholarly dishonesty, especially violations of scholarly ethics. Phenomena like ghostwriting and guest authorship are regarded as manifestations of scholarly dishonesty and all cases of such dishonesty will be denounced, with the Editor-in-Chief informing the relevant entities (institutions employing the authors, scholarly societies, associations of academic editors etc.).
