Statement on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in the Journal “Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław”
The Editorial Board of the journal “Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław” recognizes the growing role of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools in scholarly, editorial, and publishing work, as well as the risks arising from this development. As an academic journal, we are obliged to ensure integrity, transparency, and high academic standards; therefore, we publish the present position statement regarding the use of GenAI technologies.
The Editorial Board of “Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław” emphasizes that artificial intelligence tools may serve a supporting function; however, they are not capable of replacing the creative, critical, and responsible thinking that remains the foundation of scholarly work. For this reason, we recommend restrained and critical use of generative artificial intelligence in the process of preparing articles for publication in “Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław”, with particular attention to the limitations of these tools with regard to the independent creation of substantive content.
Any use of generative artificial intelligence tools must take place under the author’s supervision. The author is obliged to critically evaluate the generated materials and bears full responsibility for the final form of the article.
The Editorial Board of “Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław” underscores the importance of transparency and integrity in the research process. Therefore, authors who use generative artificial intelligence tools while preparing a scholarly article are requested to disclose this fact by indicating the tools used as well as the scope and purpose of their use. This should include the name of the tool used and the nature and extent of its use in the preparation of the manuscript. An appropriate statement must be attached by the author to the manuscript at the time of its submission to “Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław”.
Artificial intelligence tools may not be listed as co-authors. In cases where artificial intelligence tools are used, authors are obliged to verify the content of the publication with regard to fictitious data, false citations, incorrect bibliographic data, and erroneous information. The use of GenAI is prohibited for the following purposes: fabricating results or bibliographies, generating content without verification, circumventing scholarly peer-review procedures, or violating ethical principles. Information about the use of generative artificial intelligence tools will be placed at the end of the published article in the form of an author’s statement reading: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [TOOL / SERVICE NAME] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
Redakcja czasopisma „Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław” dostrzega wzrastającą rolę narzędzi generatywnej sztucznej inteligencji (GenAI) w pracy naukowej, redakcyjnej i wydawniczej i wynikające z tego faktu zagrożenia. Jako czasopismo naukowe jesteśmy zobowiązani do dbałości o zachowanie rzetelności, przejrzystości i wysokich standardów akademickich i w związku z tym publikujemy niniejsze stanowisko dotyczące korzystania z technologii GenAI.
Redakcja czasopisma „Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław” podkreśla, że narzędzia sztucznej inteligencji mogą pełnić funkcję pomocniczą, nie są jednak w stanie zastąpić twórczego, krytycznego i odpowiedzialnego myślenia, które pozostaje podstawą pracy naukowej. Z tego względu rekomendujemy powściągliwe i krytyczne korzystanie z generatywnej sztucznej inteligencji w procesie przygotowywania artykułów do publikacji w czasopiśmie „Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław”, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ograniczeń tych narzędzi w zakresie samodzielnego tworzenia treści merytorycznych.
Każde wykorzystanie narzędzi generatywnej sztucznej inteligencji powinno odbywać się pod kontrolą Autora, który zobowiązany jest do krytycznej oceny wygenerowanych materiałów i ponosi pełną odpowiedzialność za ostateczny kształt artykułu.
Redakcja czasopisma „Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław” podkreśla znaczenie przejrzystości i rzetelności procesu badawczego. W związku z tym Autorzy korzystający z narzędzi generatywnej sztucznej inteligencji w trakcie przygotowywania artykułu naukowego proszeni są o ujawnienie tego faktu poprzez wskazanie zastosowanych narzędzi oraz zakresu i celu ich wykorzystania. Należy tu uwzględnić: nazwę wykorzystanego narzędzia, charakter oraz zakres jego użycia w przygotowanie manuskryptu. Stosowne Autor dołącza do zgłoszenia artykułu do publikacji w czasopiśmie „Linguistische Treffen in Wrocław”. Narzędzia sztucznej inteligencji nie mogą być wymieniane jako współautorzy. W przypadku stosowania narzędzi sztucznej inteligencji Autorzy są zobowiązani do zweryfikowania treści publikacji w zakresie fikcyjnych danych, fałszywych cytowań, błędnych danych bibliograficznych oraz błędnych informacji. Niedozwolone jest wykorzystywanie GenAI do: fabrykowania wyników lub bibliografii, generowania treści bez ich weryfikacji, obchodzenia procedur recenzji naukowej lub zasad etycznych. Informacja o wykorzystaniu narzędzi generatywnej sztucznej inteligencji zostanie umieszczona na końcu opublikowanego artykułu w postaci oświadczenia autora o treści: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
